What does this moment mean for women-run food businesses?
What does the COVID-19 crisis mean for women-run food businesses? On the latest episode of the podcast, I speak with Shaolee Sen, CEO of Hot Bread Kitchen, about the unique challenges women-run and immigrant-run food businesses face at this time. Hot Bread Kitchen is an organization in Harlem that’s a culinary incubator program and workforce development program that trains women for jobs in the culinary industry.
This conversation is emotional and raw. Shaolee and I shed tears while talking about the current challenges many businesses face and what we hope the future could look like. I hope you will consider making a donation if you are able to the relief fund that Hot Bread Kitchen has set up for their community. You can support by visiting hotbreadkitchen.org/covid19.
And here are some of the businesses that were mentioned during our conversation:
Again, I hope you’ll consider supporting and visiting these businesses in the future.
